On Sunday, Amabilia Estrada Ruiz was honored by Bishop Barres with the St. Agnes Medal.  Amabilia has been a leader in our Hispanic Community for many years.  She is active in religious education and Spanish baptismal ministry.  She is a leader in our charismatic renewal, the Summer Benefit committee and the parish council.  Congratulations to Amabilia!

Last week, Katya Syrochkina was hired as our Music Director and Organist.  She will begin work this weekend!  She will help to guide our music program and look to strengthen it.  An introduction from her: “Hello everyone at Immaculate Conception, My name is Katya and I am the new Music Director/Organist. I am very excited to be here and help with building the music program further with the help of the cantors. Any parishioners who play other instruments are welcome to contribute to make wonderful music for mass. A bit about me: I was born in Russia and came here at the age of nine. I’ve studied organ, voice, and piano both in college (Hunter College) and graduate school (Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University).  Aside from church work, I am a piano and voice teacher at iSchool of music in both Syosset and Rockville Centre locations.”

Lastly, my recovery from my medical episode is ongoing.  I have returned to do Masses, Funerals, Weddings, Anointings and Confessions.   I still have some trouble with depth perception so I am currently not doing Baptisms or distributing Communion out of an abundance of caution.

For now, we continue our walk with the Lord.
