The Christmas Season ends with the Baptism of the Lord. In the Baptism of the Lord, we continue to see God’s unfolding goodness and power, “On coming out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came for the heavens, ‘You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.’” We recognize this power also in our own baptism, where we are freed from Original Sin. Our own baptism then compels us, even after this Christmas season, to bring Christ into our lives and into the world through us. We need to continue to be joy-filled messengers in a world that is so often in darkness and strife. For now, we continue our walk with the Lord.
