One of the major practices in Lent is Almsgiving, giving to the poor and the needy. As we fast, we give up something or do without something. Often a food or drink, which makes us think of our need for God. In line with fasting is Almsgiving, the money we might otherwise use for buying the food or drink we just gave up, can be given to the poor or used to donate food. We also can look at all the blessings we have received and aim to share that with those who are less fortunate than we are. This year we are participating in CRS Rice Bowl and you can pick up your family’s rice bowl at the doors of the Church. This is another way of reflecting and participating in Almsgiving. For now, we continue our walk with the Lord.
