wash hands

Over the past few weeks at Immaculate Conception, we have implemented some health and safety protocols during this virus season.  Principally we have stopped offering the Chalice to the lay faithful out of an abundance of caution, and followed the Diocesan directive to omit the exchange of the sign of peace at Mass.  When I spoke at all the masses a few weeks ago, I also encouraged those who feel sick or who are ill not to attend Mass.  We continue to be vigilant during this cold and flu season and the emergence of the Coronavirus in the United States and on Long Island.  While not forbidden, those who normally take communion on the tongue are encouraged to receive in the hand for the time being as this will help protect them, their neighbors, and our whole community.  Those who are fearful to receive are also invited to make a Spiritual Communion.  We have also stopped the Cookie ministry for the time being so that we safeguard our children and all our parishioners during this tough virus season.

For now, we continue our walk with the Lord.
