Plenary Indulgence
The Office of the Apostolic Penitentiary has granted a plenary indulgence to pilgrims attending sacred ceremonies in the course of the annual “March for Life” events in Washington, D.C. for the year 2021. Due to grave reasons limiting in-person attendance imposed by age, sickness, as well as the on-going pandemic, joining oneself spiritually to these ceremonies in virtual participation (television, radio, on-line, and social media) will meet the attendance requirement.
The specific events to which the plenary indulgence applies are:*
National Prayer Vigil for Life
Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception
Thursday, January 28, 2021 8:00-11:00 p.m.
Mass for Life
Cathedral of Saint Matthew
Friday, January 29, 2021 8:00-9:00 a.m.
This decree given at Rome. A plenary indulgence remits all temporal punishment for sin and may be applied to oneself or the Holy Souls in Purgatory. In addition to detachment from all sin, the following customary conditions also need to be fulfilled:

- Sacramental Confession (as soon as one is able within 20 days)
- Eucharistic Communion (as soon as one is able within 20 days)
- Prayer for the intention of the Supreme Pontiff (as soon as possible within 20 days)
This decree given in Rome on January 13, 2021 is valid only for this event covering January 28-29, 2021.
