On December 8, 2020, Pope Francis declared a Year dedicated to St. Joseph. Then he prayed for the powerful and protective intercession of St. Joseph. On March 19, we celebrated the Solemnity of St. Joseph, patron of the Universal Church. While we never hear words from St. Joseph in the Scriptures, we see his actions. A carpenter, who worked hard for his family, and who followed what the Angel of the Lord told him to, guarding and caring for Jesus and Mary. While we often focus on Mary’s Fiat, her “Yes” to the Lord, Joseph too said yes to the Lord by his actions. May we be strengthened in our actions towards God and one another to live closer to God and one another in love. Lent we often focus on action, perhaps in this year of St. Joseph, we might be strengthened in our acts of penitence, kindness and humility.
For now, we continue our walk with the Lord.
