The Sacrament of Christian Maturity
Dear ICC Family,
Congratulations to our DRE, Donna Cosme, her Assistant, Anne Dean, and all the wonderful volunteer teachers and monitors in our Religious Education program for doing such a great job all year long preparing our young people for the sacrament of Confirmation. The music was also amazing, as usual!
Bishop Andrzej “Anjay” Zglejszewski was so impressed with our (your!) kids that he said our parish was his favorite for Confirmations! Why? Because we are the only parish in the Diocese of Rockville Centre that confirms 10th graders – most parishes confirm kids in the 8th grade.
In his homily, Bishop Anjay said that the sacrament of Confirmation is the sacrament of Christian maturity. Since older kids are more mature than younger ones, they are better able to understand and commit to living the Catholic Faith. It makes sense if you think about it, although it also requires extra commitment on the part of the parents as well as the kids. So, a special thank you to all the parents who brought their kids each week for the past several years!
God bless you,
Fr. Ken
