Catholic Ministries Appeal

Dear ICC Family,

I recently had a conversation with a parishioner about donations to the Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA) in the context of the current bankruptcy lawsuit.

As you may have read in Newsday, the bankruptcy lawsuit appears to be coming to a settlement. Each parish will likely have to contribute to the settlement. Some people misperceive that donations to the CMA are fair game and will be used to pay for the lawsuit.

Please know that all CMA donations are restricted and will not be used to settle any lawsuits!

The courts recognize and value the critical role the CMA plays in supporting Catholic schools, retired priests, and seminarians. Your contributions are vital; without them, these institutions and individuals would greatly suffer. So, if you are hesitant to contribute to the CMA because of the lawsuit, don’t worry. Every penny you donate will go where it will do the most good.

May God bless us as we enter the final stages of this dark period.

Blessings!
Fr. Ken
